Security for your Trailer
Trailer security
Trailers by their very nature are very mobile, and all that is needed to steal them is a vehicle with a tow hitch. There are a number of things you can do to safeguard your trailer. First and foremost you should use some form of security device. These fall into two categories; devices that lock the trailer and those that disable the tow hitch. Other advice includes garaging the trailer in a secure building, photographing the trailer, and picking out any distiguishing features.

Standard Trailer Security
At the request of the police, Ifor Williams have added a highly visible serial number to the chassis of all their new trailers. During the manufacturing process the number is burnt through the steel using a computer controlled laser cutter. The A-frame is then formed and welded to the chassis and galvanized. Any tampering or obscuring of the serial number will be very obvious and difficult to disguise. In addition all trailers are marked with hidden security numbers.
All security defense systems are being regularly updated, better wheel clamps and other devices are continually being modified or bought out for the protection of your trailer.
Trailer Registration
Your trailer is registered by Ifor Williams. On return of your guarantee card the trailer is registered free of

charge with T.E.R. (The Equipment Register), the leading plant recovery company. If your trailer is stolen, you simply report the details of the theft to TER, Ifor Williams and this will be entered into their database. This will then assist the police in the recovery of your trailer.
